Did you know that up to 30% of a city’s traffic volume is actually made up by folks looking for parking? Anyone that frequents LoDo can certainly relate to the challenge that is finding a parking space. One of LoDo’s newest member businesses, ParkiFi, is hoping to use their innovative technology to combat our downtown congestion woes.
ParkiFi is a Denver-based technology company founded in 2014 by Ryan Sullivan and Rishi Malik to take the stress of parking out of people’s lives and reduce the environmental impact of driving. With ParkiFi’s iOS and Android app, users simply input an address into the real-time parking map and the app’s parking spot finder directs them to open spaces in garages and lots, and automatically allows users to pay for parking via the app at select locations. ParkiFi is rolling out in Denver this year before going nationwide.
Originally with offices in Boulder, Parkifi found a home in LoDo in April 2015. They first set up ship in the Rocky Mountain Seed building on 15th Street, before moving above The Market on Larimer last November. They felt Denver was a better cultural fit for their team and LoDo offered the vibrant, walkable, and amenity-full location they were looking for.
At the lead of marketing and strategic partnerships is Leslie James. Leslie’s goal is to directly engage as many Denver consumers as possible, but also to partner with local and core businesses to help ease parking problems with a quick, easy-to-use parking solution. Leslie loves that the growth in LoDo neighborhood is happening in tandem with the local tech boom, including fellow LoDo startups like GoSpotCheck and SendGrid. In the years to come, Leslie hopes to see even more diversity of business tenants downtown with representation from a range of industry. Downtown real estate prices can be prohibitive, it is important we consider how to make downtown accessible to folks like smaller startups.
Be sure to download the Parkifi app to find your next downtown parking space and pay with ease. As part of that launch, ParkiFi will be giving away an entire year of free parking at a downtown parking lot or garage to one lucky user.
